I was missing being on the trail, so I decided to take a short thru hike. I thought about the Long Trail and the Cohos trail, but I had always been interested in Maine and the Mahoosuc Notch. Having lived in the Boston area for a while, I was able to section hike nearly all of the AT in New Hampshire, because it was a quick shot up the highway, but northern Maine was just far enough away that I had only done a couple small sections.
In the end I skipped Katahdin because I ran out of time and I wanted to stick with the people I was hiking with instead of rushing. I’ve hiked it a couple times before anyway, and as much as it would have been nice to be able to say I hiked all of Maine in one shot, that wasn’t my priority.
