Day 4 – Frye Notch lean to to Sawyer Brook

The thunderstorms overnight were intense, I forgot how rolling thunder sounds as it moves across the sky.

By the time I work up the storms had gone and the skies were clear.

I came across several waterfalls and had a little swim, and took a side trail to another waterfall, which was really spectacular. From there the trail climbed up and crossed a road. After that the trail was really nice, mostly small ups and downs, but not nearly as challenging as the past couple days.

Then the trail started up Wyman mountain, which was noticeable but not aggressive at all. I got signal at the top and called Betty quick, as we talked clouds started to move in and it started raining again, then a guy I camped with last night (trail name Spoon) showed up and said he was headed for the nearby lean to to wait out the rain, which shouldn’t last long.

The cloud started rolling in as I was standing on the top

We got quite wet getting to the lean to, but managed to avoid some of the worst of it.

From there the path dropped steeply to a river where we hung out and made camp for the night.
