Day 6 – Everywhere a pond pond

Today was probably the most scenic day on trial. Spoon and I packed up at bemis stream early and got moving. Most of the uphill was in the first part of the day, and we wanted to make it into town early so we could get his package with new shoes, so we could head out tomorrow and head over the saddleback ridge before Sunday when there are storms forecast to come though.

Camp

We got some nice trail magic at the top of the first climb where we talked with a SOBO for a bit and enjoyed a Gatorade and snickers before continuing.

The day was seriously one amazing pond after another. I swam in the first one, but we didn’t stop long enough at the others.

It did raise the question of what exactly I’m doing out here, I’m not interested in rushing, but yet I fee rushed. I have to get back to work and my car is parked in a lot that says it only allows 21 days before towing, but most of the point of going on trail is letting go of those worries and just focusing on the here and now. I had to remind myself to let me slow down. Even if it means I skip the hundred miles wilderness, the beauty of being on trail is enjoying the journey.

We got to a place called the hiker hut, resupplied In town and had an amazing dinner at the local pub, and are all set for another couple days. Beyond that who can say? But right now I’m going with the flow, and that’s exactly what I wanted to get back to.
