The last day was 16 km along the beach, sometimes sandy, sometimes rocky, sometimes on the beach, other times ducking into the palm trees.
I needed to be at the pickup point by 1:30, which is plenty of time to hike 16 km, but I wanted to make sure I had time to goof off and take pictures a bit too, so I left around 6:30 am. I was also partly driven out by sandflies.
The dark spot on the pictures is just some dust on my camera sensor, which I can easily edit later, but not so easily from my phone, it’s common to get dust when switching lenses a lot, and all bird shots are done with a zoom lens, so I’ve been changing them a lot on this hike.
I managed to hike the whole trail in less than 48 hours, over three days and two nights.
The shuttle ride is five and a half hours back to Nelson. When I got to Nelson I was feeling unusually tired, I had already arranged accommodation so I just went straight there, then went out and got some food and went back and early to bed.
