I realized I was out of stove fuel, I know I had some, so on not sure if I grabbed someone else’s empty on accident or what, but I needed to get more. Once that was sorted we hitched to the North Egmont visitor center and started planning our route around Mt Taranaki. We are interested in summiting but it’s not a priority, so we decided to try later and instead use the good weather to aim for a really scenic looking hut on one of the sub peaks.
We had lunch at the visitors center and started off around this mountain. The weather was hot while hiking up but really nice in general.
We came to the Manganui lodge and public shelter and decided that although we were originally aiming further, the views there were great and we wouldn’t have to hike back down as far when going to the next hut.
