Spent the AM repacking my pack after everything had been in barrels for a week and updating my blog. James and I got into a water fight which started as retribution for pirate antics on the river… fair enough. I went to attack Betty with a squirt gun, who we tried to recruit as the 6th pirate, but stayed with her original group a day ahead of us, so I promised that if I caught her on the river (and the holiday park is technically on the river), I would show no mercy… but she has an injury, so I spared her… for now.
Then into town for a resupply and looking for new shoes since I destroyed my first pair long before I thought I would have. I found a pair of new balance trail runners that should be wide enough and work until at least Palmerston North (where my bounce box with new shoes is), maybe even Wellington.
At 2:20 Robin, myself and Amber (a last minute addition), took the bus to New Plymouth to hike Mt Taranaki.
