Jayden and I took a rest day in Bluff. Holger joined us for breakfast then went back to Invercargrill.
Jayden and I did our resupply for Stewart island.
I had been talking to Sam so I knew that her, Yuji, steady Eddie, Pete and Katie were finishing, so I planned to meet them at the end with some beer. they planned to grab beer too, so when Jayden and I stepped out of the takeaway place I saw Pete and Katie down the street, so we went around the block so they wouldn’t see us and of course we ran into Sam and Yuji. Surprise partly ruined. Met them at the end and got to witness Pete proposing to Katie, Congratulations you guys!
The next day Jayden and I got the 9:45 ferry to Stewart island, grabbed lunch and said our goodbyes. He is hiking the northern and southern combination, where as I just planned to do the great walk quickly.
I stopped a bunch on the trail just because I can, and I walked the extra loop. I still got to the North Arm hut around 5:00 and happened to run into Laura who finished the same day as me and was also doing the great walk with her family.
