Day 81 – Richmond range – Hacket hut to Slaty hut

Left camp at about 7, Holger said I should go on as he still needed another hour to pack up.

The hike up was much easier than I expected, from the notes it sounded like it would be a really aggressive climb. It wasn’t easy but not nearly as bad as I expected.

I got to the Starveall hut at about 10 or 10:30 and grabbed a snack and was finally rewarded with some great views!

There were amazing views the rest of the way to the Slaty hut. I got to the hut around 1, and shortly after I met my first northbound TA hikers.

It was early enough to hike on to the next hut, but I told Holger I’d wait for him. Eventually an older German woman came in and said he stayed at the last hut, but after some time he showed up, apparently he changed his mind and decided to hike to Slaty instead.
