Day 92 – Nelson Lakes day six- Anne hut to Boyle

The hike out was long but not difficult. We went over the Anne saddle which was only 200 meters above the hut.

We stopped at one of the huts on the way to have lunch, there were sandflies in the hut. We didn’t stay long.

Holger and I got to Boyle (where there’s almost nothing) just before the outdoor center closed at 5, and got a pizza and ginger beer, it was a terrible frozen pizza, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Anything but ramen and couscous is amazing.

We had opted not to send a resupply box to Boyle and instead go into Hanmer Springs. When we finished our pizza and got to the main road Katie and Sanna were out there trying to get a ride with very little luck. Finally they got a hitch and we stuck out our thumbs, but there wasn’t much traffic as it was getting later and after two hours we gave up and pitched a tent and decided to try again in the AM.

luckily sandflies can’t bite through long johns
