Day 85 – Richmond range day six – St Arnaud

We woke up in a cloud again and it was very cold, the clouds made navigation difficult again and we knew it wasn’t a very long hike; 2.5k to the hut, 13k to the road and 8k road walk if we didn’t hitch. So we waited a bit to see if the clouds would clear, but at 9 AM we have up and started hiking.

The hike to the hut was slow going through the unmarked tussock fields, we got to the hut around 11, grabbed a snack and dried our tents.

The walk from there was more uphill than I wanted, partly because of the big hike the day before, partly because it was a small lunch.

The highlight of my day is that I finally saw a kaka.

We got to town on the early side, had a pizza and a beer.
