Woke up to a nice sunrise, but that was it for the views for a while, the trail stayed mostly in the trees until we got down a ways.
The trail was thick in parts
Eventually it opened up a bit as we got back to the coast.
After the main hike I took a side trip to one of the beaches, Malween kept hiking.
I got to the road and got picked up by a really nice young couple here on working holiday, she was British and he was German. On the way to Takaka they suggested we take a stop at the springs just outside of town. They were amazingly clear and really pretty!
Malween decided to head back to the TA instead of doing the Heaphy, so I got a place in town and did a minor resupply and booked accommodation for the Heaphy track alone.
