Day 14 – sweatin’ buckets – Thursday November 2nd at 1:15 PM

Broke camp in Russell forest early, a couple km to the road then a nasty road walk, we got a hitch for the last couple from a local who was happy to show us his favorite local bay where he goes diving, which was breathtaking!

The first section of Helena ridge track was really nice, but there was a fair Amount of gain and it was hot and humid. I don’t know that I’ve ever sweat so much in my life.

Then there was a road walk, and then Morepork track, which was also incredible sweaty… so much sweating.

We made it to Whananaki just before the one shop in town closed so we got wine and fish and chips so I didn’t have to eat ramen and tuna (my trail default right now).

Km 313 so 40 km total, but we hitched 5 or 6, so a 34 km day? Dogs are barkin
