Day 130 – Careys hut to South Mavora lake – 3/3

I woke up to the rain just as the forecast predicted (I have to give it to the YR app, they have been very accurate). Because of the weather we took our sweet time and hung out a bunch, reading and drinking coffee.

Around noon Jayden and I left the hut and headed down to the Mavora lake campground and took a break there.

Clearing up

We continued on aiming for either the Kiwi Burn hut or camping by the second swing bridge that crosses the Mavora River, but along the way along South Mavora lake we found a campsite that was too scenic to pass up and has southeast facing views, which will be perfect for photographing the Milky Way. Hopefully the skies will stay clear this evening!
